What is this qualification?
This award covers the underpinning technical requirements for the installation of electric vehicle charging points. It follows the IET Code of Practice for Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment Installation and BS 7671.
Who is the qualification for?
Competent electricians who wish to gain an understanding of the requirements for electric vehicle charging equipment installations, and who hold relevant qualifications in inspection and testing and the wiring regulations.
IMPORTANT ENTRY REQUIREMENT UPDATE FOR REGISTRATIONS:
This qualification is for practising electricians. Learners must be at least 18 years old & hold one of the following:
- Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Installing Electrotechnical Systems and Equipment.
(Buildings, Structures and the Environment) - Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Electrotechnical Services (Electrical Maintenance).
- Level 3 Electrotechnical Qualification.
- Level 3 in Electrotechnical Services Experienced Worker.
- Level 3 NVQ in Electrotechnical Services.
- Level 3 Electrotechnical Experienced Worker Qualification.
- Level 3 Electrotechnical in Dwellings.
- Level 3 Electrotechnical in Dwellings Experienced Worker Qualification.
- EAL Building Services Engineering (Level 3) – Electrotechnical Installation.
- Equivalent historical qualifications. See EAS Table 4B/4C, and the EAS Qualifications Guide.
Or - ECS Gold Card for a Domestic Electrician, JIB Electrician, or Approved Electrician Card.
Learners must have the minimum levels of literacy and numeracy to complete the learning outcomes and assessments.

The qualification covers the IET Code of Practice for Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment Installation 5th edition.

Achievement of the Qualification
This qualification is assessed using one on-screen multiple-choice open book exam.
The exam must be passed for the qualification to be awarded.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING
Delegates will need to provide photographic identification as well as their National Insurance number on their first day of training. The following photographic identification is accepted:
- Passport
- Driving Licence etc.
